At ApproachMe, we are committed to a privacy-first design that prioritizes your safety and data protection. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

We only collect the data necessary to provide our location-based matching services.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Account Information: This includes your Authentication ID (via Apple or Google Sign-In), age (calculated from your date of birth), gender, and sexual orientation.
• Profile Content: Your profile photo is stored securely in Firebase Storage.
• Preferences: We store your visibility settings (such as age range and orientation filters) and notification preferences.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Approximate Location: We collect your approximate latitude and longitude only when the app is in use and you have set your status to "visible". We do not collect exact coordinates, and your specific location is never shared with other users—only your proximity is shown.
• Usage Data: We track feature interactions (such as "waves" sent) and device information (OS version and device type) to improve app performance.

We use your data primarily to facilitate the core functions of the app, including:

• Providing location-based matching and proximity visibility.
• Enabling messaging and the "wave" feature.
• Managing the AM Token system and referral bonuses.
• Ensuring safety through moderation, reporting, and blocking tools.

We do not sell your user data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

3.1 Visible to Other Users

When you are online and visible, other users can see:

• Your profile photo, age (unless hidden), and approximate proximity.
• Your gender and orientation (to fulfill their filtering preferences).

3.2 Service Providers

We utilize trusted third-party services to host and secure your data:

• Firebase (Google): Used for our database, authentication, and cloud messaging.
• Apple/Google: Used for secure sign-in and App Store transactions.

You have full control over your privacy through the following in-app settings:

• Visibility: You can go offline at any time to stop sharing your proximity.
• Data Management: You can update your profile, hide your age, or block specific users directly in the app.
• Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time. Once deleted, your data is removed from our active systems within 30 days.

ApproachMe is strictly for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover an account belongs to someone under 18, it will be deleted immediately.

We employ industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encryption at rest via Firebase, to protect your information from unauthorized access.
